Having reflected on the meaning of success in our last issue and learned from the wise words of successful people in this week’s, it seems worthwhile to stop and ask oneself what the price of success actually is. It is a global trend that people are working harder and this work is encroaching further into their leisure time.

But, when I asked Salavat Timiriassov, this issue’s leader of the week, whether or not he had had to sacrifice a lot to get to where he is today, he said no. Instead he emphasized the excitement and the thrill of a high-pressure lifestyle.

Intrigued by this idea, I then spoke to Yaroslav Lisovik, analyst at investment bank Renaissance Capital. Investment banking is famous for its high-stress

corporate culture. When asked whether or not he felt he’d had to sacrifice a lot to get where he is today, he said that, although he works 12-hour days, it is worth it. He has no doubt about his desire to become successful; he has set himself that goal and he loves the challenge of attaining it. Lisovik says that it is just a question of correct time management, which is in itself is a rewarding challenge.
