The main warehouse of Boris Spiegel's company, Biotek, has been robbed of nearly $1 million worth of goods. "Don't call him, don't spoil his vacation," pharmaceutical tycoon Spiegel, father-in-law and manager of pop and opera singer Nikolai Baskov, said after he heard the news. He was referring to Baskov, who was vacationing at a foreign resort at the time, according to the daily Zhizn.
The intruders - according to the investigation, there were at least three of them - were obviously well informed about the warehouse's work schedule as well as its locks and security systems. And they knew where the most valuable items were stored. According to preliminary estimates, more than $900,000 worth of goods was stolen.
"We are not being kept informed about the investigation," warehouse director Alexei Mikhailov told Zhizn, "and we don't know which scenarios are being considered. Of course, all of us, including Boris [Spiegel] are very upset about the incident. But we hope the police will find the thieves and retrieve at least part of the stolen property."
