Moscow-Rome cafe will be hosting a concert of Spanish musician Tonino Carotone on Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. The hit "Me Cago En El Amor," to which Carotone owes his sudden splash of popularity, was produced for him by Manu Chao, who refers to Caratone as a "maestro." The concert will be a crazy mix of southern temperaments, fantastic punk and bewitching melodies.

Baskov and Caballe encore

The first time young Russian singer Nikolai Baskov and Spanish opera diva Montserrat Caballe sang together was in the St. Petersburg Ice Palace in 2000. After the concert, Baskov confessed that the experience was more than he could have dreamed of. Now, Baskov and Caballe will be singing together again at the Kremlin Palace. The concert will take place Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. and will include selected pieces from classical operas, songs and romances.

Good old Smokie

For those nostalgic for 1970s rock, the once-popular British band Smokie will perform in the Rossiya Concert Hall on Oct. 10-11 at 7 p.m. Though the guys have gotten older and the legendary Chris Norman is conspicuously absent from the band's new lineup, the concert is a good chance to hear the group's 25-year-old hits. We even hear the new vocalist is a pretty good Norman imitator.

Mexican Tarantula

The Mexican band Tito & Tarantula could well have been responsible for the enormous popularity of Latin music in the 1990s. Over the past decade, the band has produced soundtracks for such popular movies as "Desperado," "From Dusk Till Dawn," "U-Turn" and "The Million Dollar Hotel." Tito & Tarantula will give a series of concerts in Moscow, including one at Voodoo Lounge on Oct. 10 at 11 p.m., another at Golden Palace casino on Oct. 11 at 11 p.m. and in Kristall casino on Oct. 12 at 11 p.m., performing both old hits and new material.
