LONDON - David Beckham has sported sarongs, nail varnish and hair bands for men, and now he has signed a six-figure deal to advertise makeup, according to reports. Beckham and his wife Victoria have been signed up by giant Japanese cosmetics firm TBC - Tokyo Beauty Center - and are set to start shooting poster ads at locations in Britain.

The Manchester United and England captain will feature in a series of promos and will be seen wearing the products against the background of an English stately home. According to U.K. daily The Sun, Beckham will be advertising popular Japanese men's products like skin lotions, anti-aging creams, facial cleansers and eyebrow-shaping kits. The Beckhams' popularity has rocketed in the Far East since the World Cup in June.

The England captain was embraced by Japanese youngsters as their own. An insider at TBC told The Sun: "It's a huge deal and one the firm insisted the couple sign together. "Believe it or not, David is probably a bigger star in Japan than he is in England. Victoria's music is very popular, too. The Spice Girls were massive here. "They are a couple every Japanese citizen recognizes immediately - especially after the last World Cup."
