
Belgian composer and musician Wim Mertens will be performing in the School of Dramatic Arts Theater on Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. Mertens wrote the music to the Peter Greenaway movie "The Belly of an Architect." In Moscow, Mertens will present a kind of a creative report highlighting his best work from the last several years.
American jazz
U.S. jazz drummer Billy Cobham is performing with his band in Le Club from Dec. 11-14 at 8 p.m. The concerts will be devoted to the 30th anniversary of the release of his first solo album, "Spectrum," which came out on Atlantic Records. The band includes several American jazz stars, including pianist Tom Coster, guitarist Hyram Bullock and bassist Victor Bailey.
Alternative music
Fans of alternative culture and singers like Tom Waits or Nick Cave should not miss the American band Devics, which will perform at B2 on Dec. 12 at 11 p.m. The group's four-CD album, "My Beautiful Sinking Ship," which came out last year, is without a doubt its very best work and a unique example of combining different genres and musical instruments.
Man of 100 faces
DJ Bob Sinclar, the man behind such productions as the Mighty Bop, has conquered dance floors worldwide. Sinclar, a character invented by DJ and producer Christopher Le Friant has spun everywhere, including New York, Hong Kong and London, but nobody knows him by sight - because he just can't be identified. According to the latest information available, he is two meters tall, athletically built and has good taste in women and cars. On Dec. 13 at midnight, the man with 100 faces will be at Ministerstvo.
Metal legends
The Finnish band Amorphis won legions of heavy-metal fans long before Finland became a world leader in metal. This legend of doom and goth will perform its amorphous tunes in DK Gorbunova on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. The concert will promote the group's latest album, "Am Universum."
