Good God! The longest of all Russian fashion events ever –Russian Fashion Week (RFW) – is over. Fifty fashion designers, including guests from France, Belarus, Spain, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Lithuania and the United States, presented their Spring/Summer 2004 collections from Oct. 28 through Nov. 4 at the T-Module exhibition complex. We watched all we could and made our cream-of-the crop list.

The most impressive was the collection by American quartet As Four. Their show on Nov. 3 should be regarded as the best of the week.

The best summer exhibition was Julia Dalakian’s collection, which closed RFW on Nov. 4. She was the only one to present fresh green swimsuits and open-backed dresses.

The most interesting show was performed on Nov. 3 by designer Masha Tsigal, who showed her Five Stars collection, modeled by young rapper Detsl, which featured marijuana leaves on the clothes. The stage was decorated with golden grass, DJ Spider spun hip-hop and rivers of Moet & Chandon flowed.

The cheeriest program at RFW was presented by designer Olga Soldatova. During her collection’s presentation, singer from pop band Hi-Fi Mitya Fomin and showman Fyodor Pavlov-Andreyevich walked the stage wearing swimming trunks. But the most entertaining was master of disguise and artist Vladik Mamyshev-Monro, who came up on stage wearing a modest black-and-white striped dress, looking like a real wife of a Party member on vacation in Kislovodsk!
