The beginning of this affair caused a big stir. Critics accused the couple of trying to make a PR campaign the same way another celebrity couple – Angelica Varum and Leonid Agutin – did. But everything settled down by itself because, unlike the aforementioned couple, Yuliya Nachalova and Dima Lanskoy haven’t recorded an album together yet. Lanskoy, former soloist in pop band Premier-Minister, is now trying his first steps in creating a solo album. As for Nachalova, her film "Bomba Dlya Nevesty" (A Bomb for the Bride) is coming out on March 8, and a bit later her new album will be released. Now, everybody’s talking about Russia’s latest super couple.

Unlike Angelica Varum and Leonid Agutin your life is not open to the public. Are you ashamed to make it open to the public?

Lanskoy:

Absolutely not. Everyone should know what he’s supposed to. We don’t build obstacles if it’s about our creative work. However, every person has a right to have private moments, secrets and thoughts in his life. That’s why people call it private!

What wouldn’t you feel ashamed of?

Nachalova:

Of believing in a normal relationship and in sincere marriage because of love. We’re not ashamed of being young, happy and feeling the real taste of life. And of having many good and happy moments in our future lives.

It seems that the Russian television industry is copying every single western project. Have you ever been offered to take part in reality shows, like "Molodozheny" (Newlyweds) on MTV?

L:

We wouldn’t really mind taking part in a TV show like that. If you take "Molodozheny," I’d say that it’s one of the best reality shows out there. It has a good atmosphere and an honest, living couple.

N:

We are not that different from all the other young couples. We’re just like everybody else. We first met in college, but communicated very rarely. Dima was very traditional – he’d give me flowers, invite me out to theaters and I’d invite him over for tea. He asked me to marry him in the summer of 2000. It was the first proposal in my life and I hesitated for four months. But then I realized he was the one I wanted to live with for the rest of my life and I accepted it.

L:

You should take your time and think everything over when it comes to decisions like that. When I proposed, she thought I was joking. And I wouldn’t even think I’d be ready for such a serious step in my life six months before.

Usually, it’s the woman who gives her career up. In your case it’s the other way around. Isn’t it so? How else would you explain why Dima left the band right after you got married?

L:

These are different situations. Everyone has his own ambitions and desires. I felt uncomfortable creatively. Working on a solo project is harder than working in a group. You’re the one who takes all the responsibility for everything you do and you can’t share it with anyone.

Isn’t it terrible when two people work in the same field? There’s nothing else to talk about but work. What do you talk about, say, in the bedroom?

N:

We’re not robots or something. We’re interested in many things. We can talk about diving, a film that we saw recently, books, exhibitions, weather, fashion and so on.

How do you spend your weekends?

L:

Well, the standard Saturday-Sunday weekend doesn’t really apply to us. We just do whatever fits our moods at the moment.

N:

Yes, we can go to see a movie, meet up with our friends at a restaurant or just stay at home. Or do some shopping. Dima always joins me with that. His advice always helps me decide what to buy – he has great taste!

You are considered to be the happiest couple in Russian show-biz. Share your secret to happiness. Do you stick to some philosophy?

L:

The most important thing is to be yourself. Then it will all seem clear and comprehensible.
