Even though things change all the time, there are some things that stay the same. What we’re talking about here are two things that we have always felt the need for and that have been valued as the most important for both our work and leisure activities. These are time and information. With enough time and information we can organize our work and leisure in the most efficient and pleasant ways.

May is close, with its 11 days of free time. Time! Now, we’ve got the first ingredient of the perfect combination for efficient and pleasant time spending. But that’s not enough just yet. How many times have you wasted a weekend (and that’s just two days) doing nothing and regretting it the rest of the week? What we need here is good planning, as in what to do on the holidays, which is why we will need information, the second ingredient.

Avoid wasting the 11-day holiday and, check out this sample plan below:

Day 1. Friday, April 30

The weekdays are over, for a little longer than usual this time! Today is a good day for staying in bed a little longer than usual. After running about the city all week and having your head stuffed with business issues, call your friends. By the way, Moscow’s clubs prepared tons of fun events for ya’ll these May holidays so don’t miss something you might regret later! Checking out the theatrical show by Russian and Ukrainian rockers at & Club.

Day 2. Saturday, May 1

Labor Day. Really? Now have we been waiting for this holiday for such a long time just to labor? No way! Forget about earning money, it’s time to spend it! This is the day to go out and get your shopping done. Ring up a couple of your friends you trust with advice on shopping. Don’t forget your wallet and head to all those shops you’ve been planning to stop by for so long. How about stopping by that new boutique store on Stoleshnikov Per.? Wear your new threads to Definite Grooves’ performance at Sixteen Tons.

Day 3. Sunday, May 2

It’s Sunday. Get used to the idea that you’re not going to work tomorrow. Not even the day after tomorrow, so get lazy! Sunday’s usually a day for watching movies. Order a pizza, invite a friend over and chill for a while – you have to recover after yesterday. Now the sun is setting. Slam the hell out of your old bones at R-Club, shake that booty at Infiniti with Noisia, Electrosoul System, DJs Novak, Jazzman, Groove, Dan, Profit, Paul B, Cryo, Seqret, Proket, Erik, Bes, Dissident, Logical, Sunchase and Implex, and finally don’t forget to leave some change for a cab ride home, because in the condition you are in by the first beams of sunlight it will be impossible to ride the metro.

Day 4. Monday, May 3

This morning you will probably need some aspirin and fresh juice. Now look out the window. It’s spring! It’s necessary to remind yourself what a beautiful city Moscow is and how much fun it is to have a daylong walk among its streets and valleys, especially if you’re with your best friends, who know how to have fun. Sad Ermitazh on Pushkinskaya is a pleasant place to visit, and not only in the wintertime. And if you’re looking for solitude and nature, check out the Sokoliniki park. This is a good evening to spend with your family, before people start to think your mom is Mio and your dad is Zeppelin.

Day 5. Tuesday, May 4

Woo-hoo! The holidays are in full swing and there’s plenty of time left. Invite a date out to a restaurant or a cafe then catch a movie. Watch one of the recently made films on a big screen. Or "Anger-1" made in 1947 on a middle-sized screen at Kult.

Day 6. Wednesday, May 5

Don’t think about what weekday it is – we’re somewhere in the middle of the May holidays and there’s no need to remember! Today’s a good day for going to the suburbs of Moscow and discovering that Russia actually goes beyond the Garden Ring. With new roads you’ll discover new ways of having fun. For example – 210 km away from the MKhAD you’ll get a chance to look at the country with a bird’s eye view. Head to the town of Vyazma. At the airport, there’s the Vyazemskiy aero-club, where you can rent either a plane or a chopper with instructors and enjoy a half-hour flight. Don’t forget to come back to earth and enjoy the rest of the holidays though!

Day 7. Thursday, May 6

You like to travel and you’d like to get the hell out of Russia and the farther the better, right? Then get ready to pay extra money for air tickets, since the holiday fares are higher than usual. But don’t worry. Instead, you may buy the so-called "burning trips" at travel agencies some two or three days before departure. It will save you both time and money because they’re usually quite cheap. Or, if you’re not a big fan of planes and regular traveling and if you’re looking for something more exciting, then, since you have more than just a weekend off, why not take a train or a bus somewhere. It takes a little longer, but the ride can be fun if you go with the right people. The easiest way to travel, however, is to stay and make other countries come to you! Alternative France will be waiting for you at Sixteen Tons with La Fresto’s performance, and if you want all of Europe at once, stop by EU movie festival at Muzei Kino and Pyat’ Zvyozd movie theaters!

Day 8. Friday, May 7

Sports. Physical training is good for your body and soul. After sitting in the office with your mind concentrated on work for such a long period of time, it’s wonderful to let your body limber up and get prepared for whatever you may have to go through in the future. Get in some quality bowling, pool, chess and checkers. Training both your mind and body, and having good times with friends at the same time is probably one of the best ways to spend a free day. And why not discover new sports, such as go-carting? Check out the new Kartland carting center at Rublyovskoye Shosse. Or go horseback riding in the Resma club, not far away from Bitsevsky Park. For team games check out paintball at the Paintball Club on Kalashny Per. by Arbatskaya metro.

Day 9. Saturday, May 8

For some people there can be nothing better than spending a spare day on something related with art, even if that would mean sitting at home and reading a book all day. If you’re this kind of person, visit the TsDL (Central House of Literature) at Krasnopresnenskaya metro. This place organizes literary events every night. For intellectual music, check out Dom on Bol. Ovchinnikovsky Per. And do combine both literature, music and food stop by Proekt O.G.I. by metro Chistye Prudy. For those, who are more into painting, there’s TsDKh (Central House of Artists) by Oktyabrskaya metro, which also introduces special events and boasts impressive collections of artworks.

Day 10. Sunday, May 9

Check out one of the wonderful towns of Russia. Take a three-hour train ride from Leningradsky train station and see how peaceful and beautiful the town of Tver is! Or go for a trip around the towns of the Golden Ring and discover Russian culture and tradition, its architecture, cuisine and hospitality. Tickets all sold out? Don’t worry, Moscow’s got something special for you tonight, and it’s the genuine British open air at Gaudi.

Day 11. Monday, May 10

Monday. The holidays are over and it’s time to prepare to get back into the working process. But work starts tomorrow and you still have a whole day of have fun, that is if you managed to get up early today, which is rather questionable… Anyways, this is your day. Follow your thoughts and desires and do whatever you feel like doing. Turn the phone off and chill. But if you want to go out with a bang, invite a bunch of friends over and celebrate the fun days of the May holidays. You’re the boss, you’re the king, you’re the tsar and this is your day!
