MOSCOW - Claim by Russian authorities against YUKOS should be re-addressed to foreign partners of the company, Viktor Gerashchenko, the former head of the Russian Central Bank, believes, RBC TV reported. “I have a plan for resolving the YUKOS crisis,” Gerashchenko stressed. But the former head of the Russian Central bank is not going to act before his appointment as a member of the YUKOS board of directors is approved, according to Gerashchenko.
YUKOS management should resolve two problems. One of them is the ongoing negotiation with Sibneft on de-merging and the other one is claims of tax fraud by the Russian Tax Ministry.
As for the possibility of releasing the former YUKOS CEO, Mikhail Khodorkovsky, Gerashchenko believes that a court should consider the issue. Russian President Vladimir Putin will not likely intercede if Khodorkovsky’s term of imprisonment should be extended.
It is worth mentioning that the Khodorkovsky’s criminal case was directed to the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow.
