MOSCOW — RusPromAvto has refuted information on possible talks concerning its acquisition of British firm MG Rover. The holding's external relations department has assured that what Alexander Yushkevich, the holding's board-of-directors chairman, had said with regard to MG Rover could only be general assumptions he made as a car-manufacturing industry expert. Earlier, some mass media sources reported that the RusPromAvto holding had expressed interest in acquiring the insolvent MG Rover. Bankruptcy proceedings have been initiated at the latter. The company filed for bankruptcy after the Shanghai Automotive Industry Co. (China) refused to hold further talks concerning the enterprise's acquisition, which would have secured Rover around USD1.8bn worth of investments.
