MOSCOW — Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said Wednesday that Russian-Chinese relations had a good future. Speaking at a meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan, Fradkov said, "We [China and Russia] have laid a solid foundation for relations of mutual trust, and these relations have good prospects."

The premier praised Cao Gangchuan's contribution to bilateral relations in economic and, especially, military-technical cooperation.

"Your personal contribution has ensured significant progress in bilateral military-technical cooperation," Fradkov said.

He also congratulated the Chinese minister on the success of the first Russian-Chinese joint military maneuvers, and praised the organization and professionalism.

Cao Gangchuan extended "the warm regards" of Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to Fradkov.
