No, I don't think it's unlucky. I'm not a superstitious person, so I think it's an ordinary day like any other. Sometimes, it can even turn out to be lucky. I don't prepare myself for the day, or act differently, and I hadn't even thought about it this month. But people have celebrated this day for several years now in Russia and some clubs organize parties on the theme. I've been to a few of them and they were fun as well as being interesting.
LYDIA SAMONOVA, 45, MATHEMATICIAN
Yes, it's a very unlucky day. I always experience mishaps and troubles on this day, just like the folk belief says. So, on every Friday the 13th, I try not to tackle anything important or plan any significant events. I know that a tradition of celebrating this day came from the West to Russia recently, but I think it's better not to disturb or incite evil forces so I'm extremely careful on this day.
ALEXANDER NOVOSELTSEV, 35, COMPANY DIRECTOR
I'm a superstitious person, and I think this day is very unlucky. You don't have to go as far as putting on a helmet and hiding at home all day, but there is something to the tale and so I always put off any important business to the following Monday. People in Belarus celebrate Friday the 13th, and one of my friends was born on that day although that never spoils our parties. So, I think this day only has a bad effect on business and can't harm celebrations.
ROBERT ADAMYAN, 65, SALESMAN
You have to be ready for trouble on any day of the week because bad luck isn't confined to Friday the 13th. But several tragic events that forced radical changes in my life happened to occur on this date. It will be a miracle if this Friday passes without any problems for me because bad luck dogs me on every Friday the 13th, to the extent that I even lose in small things like TV lotto games.
OLGA OREKHOVA, 21, COURIER
It all depends on the person and his attitude to this day. I think that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day but I don't prepare for the day or brace myself for something bad to happen. I'm going to act just as I do on any other day. It's an aspect of Western culture to celebrate this date and forecast bad luck for it. I think that if something bad is going to happen, it will do so whether it's Friday the 13th or any other day. It's not a good reason to spoil your Friday night.
VITALY VASILEV, 23, STUDENT
If something bad happens on Friday the 13th, people put it down to the unlucky day. If nothing happens, they forget about it and it's a day like any other. But if a person always thinks that he will definitely have a lot of troubles on this date, then it will work out that way because if you brood on something for a long time, it can come true. I'm not a superstitious person, and frankly I don't believe in it. In fact, I enjoy the day because they usually show a couple of good horror films on TV.
