
MOSCOW - Today it is one year since a terrorist action took place on Pushkin square in Moscow. A criminal case over the explosion is still undisclosed.
An explosion occurred in an underground passage of the Pushkin metro station on August 8, 2000, killing 13 people and wounding 118. The federal committee of the police anti-criminal department announced about the arrest of one of the suspects in May of this year.

However, according to the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, nobody was arrested and accused in connection with the explosion, despite considerable search operations that have been done. So far, the main theories of the investigation – a terrorist action, an economic crime, hooliganism or hostile behavior – have not been confirmed.
A native Chechen was arrested earlier on Kutuzov Avenue in Moscow, but the investigators did not establish his involvement in the explosion. Criminal proceedings were initiated over an explosive device impounded from him.
Vladimir Kalchuk, head of the team of investigators who specializes in investigating specially grave banditry and murder cases, has filed a petition in the Russian General Prosecutor’s Office asking for the extension of the terms of investigation.
